Description
Building the relationship between letter names and letter sounds is a critical step in setting the foundation for learning to read and write. It is important for students to be able to quickly identify letter names and know the sounds that they makes. This resource will help to provide your students with practice to help them build a solid letter/sounds foundation.

The activities are fun, fresh, and engaging. Plus they are SUPER easy to prep! Just print and slide in a page protector! Students will need plastic math cubes to complete the activities. This activity makes a great morning work tub, fast finisher activity, or literacy center.
Picture names are included for ALL pictures.
To complete the activity, students will use magnetic letters or letter tiles to show the beginning sound of the pictures on the mat.
There are three types of mats included.
-8 mats with 6 practice pictures
-8 mats with 12 practice pictures
-6 sets of color coded mats with 26 practice pictures (A-Z). These mats can be cut apart so you can use the pictures as students learn the sounds.
Also included are no prep pages to monitor student progress.
It is a good idea to begin this activity in a small group teacher led setting so that students can become familiar with the correct picture names.
