Count and Color: Students will practice one-to-one correspondence as they count and total sets of objects. They will trace or rainbow write the large focus number. They will count each set of pictures and determine which sets represent the focus number. They will color the pictures to show their answers. This activity can also be placed in page protectors for repeated use. Students can place plastic linking cubes, small erasers, or other manipulatives on the page to show their answers. Each page features a new theme to help keep the activity fresh and student interest high.

Find and Color: Students will practice number recognition with this activity. They will identify the focus number and color the pictures that show the matching number. This activity can also be placed in page protectors for repeated use. Students can place plastic linking cubes, small erasers, or other manipulatives on the page to show their answers. Each page features a new theme to help keep the activity fresh and student interest high.

Number Books: Each book contains eight activities. Students will decorate the number, show the number, on a ten frame, color snap cubes to show the number on the first page. On the second page, students will draw objects to represent the number, draw dots on dot cubes and create an addition sentence for number 6-10. They will also rainbow write the number and practice writing the number on their own. For numbers 11-20, the dot cube activity changes to a base ten activity. They will cut the pages apart by cutting on only two lines (horizontally and vertically) and then stapling them together to create a personal book.

Number Sort: Students will recognize the number in various forms with this activity {and get some extra fine motor practice!}. They will begin by tracing and writing the numbers. There are small dots to show students where to place their pencil to begin writing the number. They will cut apart the pictures at the bottom and glue on the ones that represent the focus number. Numbers are represented with objects, hands, dominoes, dot cubes, ten frames, tally marks, and base ten blocks. At the bottom of the page, they will color the spaces that show the numerical number.

Number Mazes: Students will begin with the race car at the top of the page. They will color the spaces that show the focus number as they travel through the maze and end with the stop sign. This activity can also be placed in page protectors for repeated use. Students can place plastic linking cubes, small erasers, or other manipulatives on the page to show their answers. This page could also be used for number fluency by having students read through the numbers quickly.

Number Talk 1: This activity would be a great way to introduce the number. Students will explore the focus number as they write the number, show it on a ten frame, draw pictures to show the number, and color plastic linking cubes to show the number. For numbers 11-20 the plastic linking cubes coloring turns into an activity to practice base ten.

Number Talk 2: A more in-depth look at numbers. This activity would be best suited for an end-of-unit activity or as a student assessment page. Students will find the number on a number line, count to show the numbers that come before and after, and show the number using tally marks. They will show the number on a domino and create an addition sentence. They will add one and subtract one to the focus number. They will draw dots on a dot cube and create an addition sentence (for numbers 7-10). Finally, they will determine how many more are needed to make ten and show it on a ten frame. For numbers 11-20 some of the activities are replaced by base ten activities.

Number Writing: Handwriting practice with a little extra! Students will rainbow write, color, or decorate the large number at the top of the page. They will color the ten frame to show the number. This page contains three lines of tiered writing practice. On the first line, students will trace the number. On the second line, students will write the number on their own. Both of these lines show small dots to remind students where to put their pencil. On the last line, students will write the number independently. Once they are finished, they will fill the missing number in on the number line and color the stars to show the number.

Spin and Write Numbers: A fun twist on traditional number writing. There are dots in each section to help students remember where to place their pencil. Students will color the crayons on the spinner to create a color code. They will use a paper clip and pencil to create a spinner. They will spin the spinner to determine what color to write the number. They will continue to spin and write until the page is complete. To make this activity re-useable, simply color the crayon to create a permanent color code. Slide the page in a page protector and supply students will corresponding expo markers. Students will complete the activity using the same directions, but will wipe clean when done!
