Description
Building a solid number sense foundation is critical for a students' long-term math success – and it starts at an early age. It is important for our students to develop a deep understanding of individual numbers, their quantities, and how they relate to other numbers. Number sense is developed through lots of practice and exposure, which is why it's important for us to have lots of activities to help our students strength their skills.
This resource will provide your students with fun, interactive, and hands-on activities to practice counting, number recognition, and one-to-one correspondence. The activities are perfect to use all year long and will make planning a breeze. Preparing these activities are also super easy!
Included are 12 different counting activities for numbers 0-10. Every activity includes multiple versions so that you can use the activities more than once without having to re-introduce and re-explain directions. These activities using basic classroom supplies such as plastic math cubes, math bears, mini erasers {if you have them}, and dice.
These activities are great for morning work bins, fast finisher activities, math centers, or small group work.

Flip and Count: Students will select a number card and use plastic math cubes or the themed picture cards included to count and show the number on the mat. {3 activities included}
Counting Mats: Students will identify the number on the mat. They will use plastic math cubes or mini erasers to show the number quantity on the mat. {4 activities included}
Count and Build: Students will count the picture to determine the target number. They will use plastic math cubes or plastic bears to show the number on the mat. {2 activities included}
Show Below: Students will read the number on the mat. They will use plastic math cubes, mini erasers, or other small classroom manipulatives to count and show the number on the mat. A ten frames version is also included. {2 activities included}
Build the Number: Students will determine the number that is shown on the mat. Numbers are presented as ten frames, counting objects, dominos, and more. They will use plastic math cubes to build a tower to show the number. {9 activities included}
Form the Number: Students will link plastic math cubes to form the number on the mat. {2 activities included}
Ten Frames: Students will identify the number. They will use small classroom manipulatives to show the number on the ten frame. {3 types of activities included}
Count and Cover: Students will use their subsidizing skills to identify the number represented by dots on the mat. They will use the included number cards to cover the spaces or you could have students use magnetic numbers. {4 activities included}
Number Puzzles: Students will identify the number or use their subsidizing skills to put the number puzzle together. A color and black and white option is included. {5 activities included}
Count and Total: Students will sort and count each set of pictures on the activity mat. They will use a dry erase marker to write the number to show each total. An answer key is included. {8 activities included}
Clip the Number: Students will count each set of objects and clip the number that shows the total {4 activities included}
Spin and Cover: Students will a paperclip and a pencil to make a spinner. They will spin the spinner and determine the number they spun. They will cover a corresponding picture that shows the quantity. They will continue to spin and cover until the game board is full. {6 activities included}
