A fun way to practice number sense 0-20. This activity makes a great center, fast-finisher tub, or small group practice! Plus it’s great practice for number recognition!
It’s Hip to Clip: Number Sense is easy to prep and easy for students to use. Download the preview to what is included in this pack, plus photos of this resource in action.
To play, students identify the number at the top of the card. They determine the number represented in each space on the card. They use a clothespin to “clip” the spaces that equal the number on the top of the card (great fine motor practice!).
Numbers on the cards are presented in a variety of ways, including: tally marks, ten frames, base ten blocks, popsicle sticks, dot cubes/dice, dominoes, plastic linking cubes, and more.
There are 2 optional recording sheets included to hold students accountable for their work. One recording sheet is for numbers to 10. The other is for numbers to 20. “I Can” visual directions are also included.
As teachers, we need a ton of games and activities in our bag of tricks. We need to have several activities for our students to practice the skills we are teaching. It’s Hip to Clip is a fun and engaging way for your students to practice number recognition. A perfect addition your bag of tricks!
Teacher Tip: Print on card stock for durability. BEFORE laminating, put a small sticker on the back of the correct pictures to make this activity self checking (see picture in the preview).
