This packet of winter activities includes literacy and math centers as well as no prep activities. The skills included are perfect for Kindergarteners during the month of January or all winter long!

Themes included in this packet are: snow, snowmen, snowflakes, winter kids, polar bears, penguins and igloos.

Inside you'll find a total of 24 center activities (13 math and 11 literacy) and 24 no prep practice pages to reinforce the skills covered in the centers. All are common core aligned with standards included.

All activities include:

-Recording sheets to hold students accountable for their work

Here's a look at what's included:

• Rhyming Mittens: Students will determine whether or not two given word/pictures rhyme. They will use a bingo dabber to “dab” their answer. (RF.K.2a)

• Bear-y Beginning Sounds: Students will identify the beginning consonant sound of a given word/picture. (L.K.1a, RF.K.1d)

• Snow Sounds: Students will identify the ending sound of a given word/picture. (L.K.1a, RF.K.3a)

• Winter Sentence Shuffle: Students will unscramble a simple sentence. They will record the sentence on their paper and illustrate. (L.K.1, L.K.2)

• Playful Penguins: Students will identify the missing short vowel in a CVC word/picture. (L.K.1a, RF.K.3b)

• Snowy Syllables: Students will use bingo dabbers to dab the number of syllables (up to 4) in a word/picture. (RF.K.2b)-“Snowball Short Vowels” – Students will identify the missing short vowel in a CVC word/picture. (L.K.1a, RF.K.3b)

• Write the Room: Students will find the winter themed vocabulary words and write them on their recording sheet. Includes a stationary option as well as the traditional walking around the room. (L.K.1a, RF.K.1b)

• Polar Pals: Students will dab the correctly spelled CVC word to match the picture on their card. (RF.K.3a, RF.K.3b, R.FK.2c, RF.K.2d)

• Snowman Digraphs: Students will identify the correct beginning digraph {ch, sh, th, wh} of a given word/picture. (RF.K.2d)

• Super Silly Penguins: Students will read a CVC word to determine if it is a real word or a silly {nonsense} word. (RF.K.2c, RF.K.2d, RF.K.3a)

• Penguin Pals: Students will determine which numbers are missing, when counting by ten (Optional number line included for additional support). (K.CC.A.1, K.CC.A.2)

• Snowman Addition: Students will solve addition sentences and record their answer on the paper. Includes optional counters, work mats, and number line. (K.OA.A.1, K.OA.A.2, K.OA.A.5)

• Snowflake Subtraction: Students will solve subtraction sentences and record the answer on their paper. Includes optional counters, work mats, sorting mats, and number line. (K.OA.A.1, K.OA.A.2, K.OA.A.5)

• It's a Penguin Party: Students will count to fill in the missing numbers. (2 options to 15 and 20 included, optional number line included) (K.CC.A.2)

• Let's Make 10: Students will determine how many more are needed to make 10. They will use a bingo dabber to “dab” their answer on the paper. (K.OA.A.4)

• Count and Total: Students will count the objects on the card and record the number on their paper. (Numbers to 15 and 20) Could be used as a “Write the Room” activity. (K.CC.A.3, K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5)

• Penguin Pals Ten Frames: Students will count the ten frame and record the number. Numbers to 15 and numbers to 20 included. (K.NBT.A.1, K.CC.A.1, K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5)

• Tally Up the Fun: Students will count the tally marks (to 10) and record the number on their paper. (K.CC.B.5)

• Base Ten Snow Friends: Students will count the base ten blocks and record the number on their paper. (K.CC.A.3, K.NBT.A.1)

• Great {Snow} Balls of Number: Students will unscramble a set of 4 numbers and write them in order. 2 options: numbers to 15 and 20. Optional number line included. (K.CC.A.2, K.CC.A.3)

• Snow-Bonds: Students will add two parts to determine the whole number that is missing. (K.OA.3)

• Snowy Numbers {Play Dough Mats}: Using play-doh or pom-poms students will form the numbers 1-20 and show on a ten frame. Also on the mat, students will practice writing the number with a dry erase marker.

• Winter Graphing: Using picture mats, students will complete a graph and answer questions (K.CC.B.4, K.CC.B.5, K.MD.A.2 , K.MD.B.3)
