Description

This resource includes picture sorts, centers, no prep pages, and display posters to help you introduce the concept of nouns to your students. The activities are designed to help students be able to recognize and classify a noun as a person, place, thing, or animal.

The pages included are easy to prep and most importantly, little learner friendly. These activities provide a fun, hands-on approach to teaching nouns. Activities are included for whole group, small group, and independent learning stations.

Here's What's Included:

Noun Posters: A set of 6 noun posters that give an overview of a noun as well as separate posters for a person, place, thing, and animal. Works great for classroom display, an introductory lesson on nouns, and whole group discussion.

No Prep Pages: A collection of 20 no prep pages to help students practice nouns. Separate pages for person, place, thing, and animal are included as well as general noun practice. Includes a Noun Flap Book Activity. This is an interactive cut and paste sorting activity. No prep is required but an “I Can” visual directions page is included so this can be used as a center.

Match and Cover Nouns: Students will look at each picture to decide what type of noun it is. They will use the color code on the right of the mat to cover the pictures.

Noun Sort: Includes headers, 72 picture cards, and recording pages. Students will sort the picture cards using the noun headers. To show their work, they will write the picture names under the correct heading.

Center 1: What Doesn’t Belong?: Students will decide what kind of noun each picture is to determine which one does not belong. They will find the matching set of pictures and color the one that does not belong.

Center 2: Knockin’ Down Nouns: Students will read the word to decide if it is a noun or not a noun. They will write the word on the paper under the correct heading. Words are simple, easy to read, and little learner friendly.

Center 3: Write the Noun: Students will identify the picture on the card to determine if it is a person, place, thing, or animal. They will write the word on the line and color the space to show their answer.

Center 4: Ninja Nouns: Students will identify the picture on the card to determine if it is a person, place, or thing. They will write the word on the line and color or dab the symbol to show their answer.

Center 5: Super Spinner Nouns: Students will spin the spinner and identify person, place, thing, or animal. They will find a corresponding picture on their paper and color it using the color code on the spinner.

Center 6: Rock and Roll Nouns: Students will roll the cube and identify person, place, thing, or animal. They will find a corresponding picture on their paper and color it using the color code on the cube.

Center 7: Write the Room Nouns: Students will walk around the room to find the picture cards. They will identify the picture and determine if it is a person, place, or thing. They will write the word under the correct heading.
