Description

Looking for a fun and engaging whole-group activity to teach letter recognition? This is the perfect activity for the beginning of kindergarten or throughout the year in Pre-K. This activity will make teaching {and learning} the alphabet fun, engaging, and hands-on!

This packet includes 5 different sets of uppercase and lowercase cards plus matching themed picture cards. Themes include: fishbowl / fish, book bag / books, rocket / moon, piggy bank / money, and oven / cake.

To use this activity print, cut, and laminate a set of alphabet cards {either uppercase, lowercase, or both} and the special picture cards. You can choose to use just a few letters at one time or use the entire alphabet. You can mix the letters up or put them in order.

Place the alphabet cards in a pocket chart. Hide the special picture cards behind the letters. You can use as little or as many picture cards as you’d like.

Students will say a letter name to guess which letter the picture card(s) is hiding behind.

This resource also includes two optional prediction pages that students can write down the letters that they think the special cards are hiding behind.

Note: The alphabet cards included are a 3.5” square. You can make the cards smaller by reducing the print size in your printer settings.
